A
Carl and Jerry Adventure
With apologies to John T. Frye |

A LATE HOUR
of an evening in January found Carl and Jerry busy in the
electronics laboratory of Parvoo University. Carl was seated
in front of the computer looking intently at the glowing

"Carl, I don't understand
what this '404 error' is all about, do you?"
"Well, Jerry, it probably
means that your computer has done exactly what you told
it, or at least what you think you told it. Computers are
like that."
"But I am sure that I
told it the right thing. Besides, what could possibly go

"As you can see,"
Jerry concluded, "there can be a number of reasons
for a 404 error."
Carl replied, "Yes, but
you forgot two more likely reasons."
"Oh? What are they"?
Carl answered, "Well, you could have
developed a case of "fumble fingers" and your
computer did exactly what you told it!
"Fumble Fingers?"
"Or", he continued, "Eight-to-Go
could have decided to make a snack out of the computer mouse.
Cats are like that."
